End of Life

Retire obsolete IT without retiring your responsibility.

Protect customers, company data, and remaining asset value while meeting the environmental and security obligations attached to end-of-life equipment.

01 / Responsibility follows the asset

Secure disposal is a business obligation.

As your business changes, you face the job of managing unwanted or obsolete IT equipment while protecting customer information and company assets. Organizations may also need to account for environmental and security requirements under laws and frameworks such as GLBA, FACTA, FERPA, FISMA, SOX, and HIPAA.

GLBA FACTA FERPA FISMA SOX HIPAA

Uncontrolled outcome

The risk extends beyond the equipment.

Improper IT disposal can create legal, environmental, financial, and reputational exposure. Even systems with little economic value can carry sensitive information that remains valuable to the wrong person.

Controlled outcome

A defensible path forward.

SecureErase provides an effective end-of-life solution while protecting your organization and its customers. We keep sensitive data secure, document the process, and help equipment reach the right next destination.

02 / Enforcement exposure

High consequence

The cost of getting disposal wrong can extend far beyond the hardware.

Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act

  • Mandatory remediation and ongoing oversight
  • Security-event reporting for qualifying incidents
  • Contract, customer, and reputational fallout

03 / Recover value

Remarketing

We work with you to develop a remarketing program based on your specific needs. Custom programs may use all or part of our standard service, including employee sales or marketplace sales that can create a revenue stream while extending the useful life of equipment.

04 / Lease closeout

End-of-Lease Returns

When leased IT equipment is due back, specific steps must be completed to terminate the agreement and retire each asset from its original use. We cosmetically and functionally test systems to confirm the identity and condition of returned products—after confidential data has been removed.

  • 01 Erase all hard drive information
  • 02 Verify the condition and configuration of end-of-lease equipment
  • 03 Remove all asset tags
  • 04 Clean the system
  • 05 Provide a detailed report
  • 06 Perform repairs as needed

Our fee for this service is often far less than the internal cost or charges assessed by the leasing company.
